I am an experienced and skilled bassist with extensive performance and teaching expertise. I love teaching students of all ages and levels – from those picking up the instrument for the very first time to those who have been playing for years and want to take the next step.
The bass is an instrument that is very easy to get started with. In fact, it takes no more than one hour before you can play with a band – and every band needs a bassist. But even though it’s easy to begin, there are no limits to how far you can develop on the bass, creating music that is exciting, groovy, and intricate.
I believe the best way to learn bass is by working with concrete songs. Learning songs by ear from recordings and playing along is a fun and motivating method – and this is my main approach to teaching. I try to create a progression of songs tailored to each individual, so that you are constantly challenged with new material while also learning skills that apply beyond those specific songs. Without a teacher to guide you through the jungle of songs out there, it’s easy to miss the ones that really help you grow as a musician.
I teach in person in Bergen (Sandsli) or online via Zoom, and I have solid experience with both. I can teach both electric bass and double bass.
Lessons can be booked through my SuperProf-profile or by direct contact via email (thomas.lossius (at) gmail.com) or phone (+47 472 54 244).
